ABSTRACT

The study surveyed the challenges of book acquisition in Abia State Polytechnic I .ihrary. Aha. The main purpose or the study is to find out the challenges or book acquisition in Abia State Polytechnic Library. Aba. The study was guided by 4 purposes and 4 research questions. The research design used for this study is the descriptive research design of the survey type and the instrument used was structured questionnaire administered to staff of Abia State l'olytcchnic Library. Aba. The sample study is 19 library staff to whom nineteen copies of questionnaire were distributed. Nineteen (19) copies or questionnaires were returned and found useable for the analysis representing a response rate of l 00%. Findings indicated that the problems at'kcting book acquisition in Ahia state polytechnic I .ibrary are high. the factors that arc responsible for the problems affecting book acquisition in Ahia state polytechnic Library, Aba are high and the challenges or book acquisition had a high impacts on Abia state polytechnic Library. Aba Recommendations such as staff training. acquisition policy should be followed. recruitment of qualified personnel, provision of adequate bibliographic control mechanism are suggested as solutions to the challenges of book acquisition in /Abia state polytechnic library, Aba.
