Application Of Statistical Quality Control In Plant Production (A Case Study Of Peacock Nigerian Limited, Uyo):- Onwuatuegwu Francis U
ABSTRACT
The desire to carry out this research work was
motivated by the rate of high inferior or substandard products in our nation.
The aim of this research work is to reduce or possibly eliminating the
rejection of products by consumers by eliminating assignable cause(s) of
variation in the production system of pea cork Nigeria Limited, Uyo which is
the case study of the research work and to establish a state of control as the
basic for determining when future observations are in control. Monthly data on
the quality characteristics of interest within the period 2009-2011 was
collected from the quality control department of the company and control chart
for variable specifically X chart and R chart were used in the analysis using a
statistical software called MINITAB. It was observed after the analysis that
assignable cause of variation entered into the production of pea cork white
emulsion paint since X chart for specific gravity, PH and Viscosity indicate
out of control, which the R chart for specific gravity, Viscosity and solid
content was control. However, Homo-genization was done and the process became
under statistical quality control, it was d d ng other things that the company
should recommendec amo establish a standard quality control chart for monthly
testing of variability not only in white emulsion paint production but also in
the production of all their products to avoid rejecting by consumers and save
them from incurring losses.
