ABSTRACT

The effect of bad debt management on the performance of Nigeria banks has been the talk of the day in recent times. However, this research work is geared towards examining and appraising the effect of bad debt management on the performance of Nigeria banks, with particular reference to First Bank Nigeria Pie. Consequent upon this, an inroad was made into the activities of the bankers on Bad Debt Management, and a critical analysis was made in their performance. Thus, this work was divided into five chapters. The first chapter introduces the topic under study by highlighting the background, statement of problem, objective e of the study, research question, hypothesis and significance of the study using motivational tools to maintain a desired level of the study performance which provides guidelines. Chapter two deals with the related literature review, theoretical frame work; cause of bad debt and so on. Chapter three focuses, mostly on method and research methodology, which specified and explained the process involved in collecting analyzing and interpreting data used in the study. Chapter four is based on data presentation, analysis and findings. In this chapter attempts were made to analyze the data collected during survey, the analysis is based on the responses from the completed copy of the questionnaire. In analysis and testing of hypothesis, statistical technique used in hypothesis testing is chi-square. Chapter five is the summary of the effect of bad debt management on the performance of Nigerian banks, a study of First Bank Nigeria Pie. Vl Finally, attempt was made to make recommendations from the searchlight of the ;project on why and how bad debt management has ruined so many old and new generation banks and the way forward to correct the anomaly in the banking industry
