An Overview Of Impact Of Fraud In Banking Industry In Nigeria (Case Study Of First Bank Plc)
ABSTRACT
This study titled 'An Overview of Impact of Fraud in Banking Industry in
Nigeria (Case Study of First Bank of Nigeria plc) is aimed at achieving the
following objectives to overview the impact of fraud in banking industiy,
Analysing the impact of fraud on bank profitability, to detennine the extent
which control measures have helped to curb fraud in banking industry. In order
to successfhlly accomplish these objectives, the following research questions
were drawn: to what extent has fraud affected the bank profitability? To what
extent have control measures of banking industry been able to curb fraud? The
population of this study constitute of the totality of first bank of Nigeria which
is the study area. Data were collected mainly from quasi experimental [primary
source]. The method of data analyses includes the use of descriptive statistics,
while the hypothesis was analyse using regression and the ordinal least method.
Based on the frndings, the researcher recommends that management of
commercial bank should straighten the banking policy that regulates the
activities ofthebanks.
