ABSTRACT
Road
accident has been a major public health challenge that requires concerted
efforts for effective and sustained prevention. The main objective of this work
is to design a mathematical model that could be used to forecast dependable
future levels of casualty figure (Victims) of read accident in the state and
also to evaluate the residual to see if it is normally distributed and have
constant variance and zero mean. The components of time series present in the
data was also estimated and isolated. The survey covers Abia urban between
January 2001 to December 2005. The main method of analysis used in this work is
the descriptive time series analysis. The multiplicative and additive model
were used in this work. The result revealed that the trend was on the average
of 21.7 victims, September and December had the highest seasonal influence on
the victims while June had the lowest. It was also found out that the residual
are normally distributed had constant variance and zero mean.
