ABSTRACT
The United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC, 2007) defined climate change as ‘‘a change of climate which is attributed directly or indirectly to human activity that alters the composition of the global atmosphere and which is in addition to natural climate variability observed over comparable time periods.’’ The issue of climate change has been a central focus in many global discussions concerning poverty, food insecurity, environmental sustainability, human health, global economy, and many other socio-political discussions. World population growth has continued, and although the demand for food production has more than doubled since the pre-industrial era, productivity is declining due to climate change and climate variability.
