ABSTRACT

 This research 'work is focused on the "Survey of Management and Preservation of Newspapers and magazines in selected academic libraries" with a particular interest in Imo State University and Abia state University libraries. The process of data collection for the study was guided by the seven objectives and research questions, formulated for the study. I' The survey research design/method was adopted while carrying out the study. The instruments used in collecting data are the questionnaire, interview and observation. In presenting and analyzing, a sample frequency table mere used. The findings of the study revealed that the storage facilities are shelves and boxes in both IMSU ,· and ABSU, the management and preservation of newspaper and magazines in ABSU and IMSU are binding, eprograpy, cleaning and dusting, the retrival measures of IMSU and ABSU are the same facilities which are wooden and open metal boxes.
