The Role Of Women Cooperative Society In Alleviating Poverty In Njaba Local Government Area Of Imo State

ABSTRACT

This study determined the role of women cooperative society in alleviating poverty in Njaba Local Government Area of Imo state. primary data was sourced by the use of well structured questionnaire, which were distributed to one hundred and twenty (120) respondents using random sampling techniques for the study. Statistical tools such as mean, percentage, frequency distribution, and z-test were used to analyzed the result of the study. Also logistic regression model constituting eight independent variables were used to analyzed data in line with the objectives of the study. Logistic regression result revealed that age, education, experience, financial contribution, income, capital accumulation were statistically significant at % Analysis of the result revealed that 20% and 29% of women cooperators and non-women cooperators had primary and secondary school education respectively. The major constraints faced by women cooperatives are inadequate fund, low patronage of goods and services, lack of' government support. The study recommended that government should facilitate and make provision of farm input, in Njaba Local Government Area.
