The problems of extension staff of agricultural development programme in owerri north block of imo state.

ABSTRACT

 This study investigated the problems of ADP Extension work in Owerri North block of Imo State. The study covered the entire communities under the locality and under use of all the field extension staff who were 5 in number. Data were collected from those respondents through the questionnaire and statistical techniques such as frequencies, percentage: contingency tables were used to analyze the data. The result shows that the average age of the farmer was 46years and that more than I 0% did not go to school. The major problem~ facing. the field s1,11T were lack or incentives. large area or coverage, lack of accessible road to the interior areas, poor transportation facilities, uon-payment of claims/allowances, etc. the field staff claimed that the. y· do ..~n~ at . . v. . is; it th. e farmers as regularly as they ought to, due to these problems mentioned above. 1 It was recommended that the government should _try as much as possible to solve these problems so that extension services in this area will be successful. !''· · They should give more attention to workers receiving ·their die claims fully . ~ t and regularly.
