The Management Formation System In Hospitality Industry In Attainment Of Goals.

ABSTRACT
This research was earned out to determine the impact of' management information system (IMS) in the hospitality industry. Four (4) hotels employing IMS were selected randomly from two (2) geographical locations within south eastern Nigeria. Interviews, questionnaires and other secondary sources were used to obtain data which were analyzed using chi-square (Pzo. 0.5). percentages and graphs (charts). Results indicate that management information system had significant positive impact and the financial basis on the Hotels studied. It had potentials for doubling the financial base of the hotel sector which could indicate fortune for similar service oriented outfit. The result also shows that power failure was top among constraints accounting for about 30% militating against effective adoption and use of IMS. Although prospects arc great and many still unidentified in the use of MIS, it is recorded that articulated efforts should be made to realize the full dividend in the use of MIS by appreciating its significances and also timely addressing the constraint outlined.
