ABSTRACT

This paper examines the impact of exchange rate volatility on economic growth in Nigeria from 1981 - 2018. The objective of the study is to look at the effect of constant exchange rate changes on the economic growth in Nigeria. Secondary data were collected based on the model used in the research work and unit root test was conducted on the data to test their stationary, after which we perform co-integration test to analyze the long run relationship among the variables. The result obtained from our empirical analysis shows that there is significant long run relationship between exchange rate volatility and economic growth in Nigeria within the period under review. The study therefore recommend policy development should be more focused on promoting exports in more business friendly environment with adequate security and infrastructural facilities. The state and local governments need to get more involved in the provision of basic amenities such as feeder roads and power supply, to make the business environment much easier for existing and aspiring exporters.
