The Effect Of Oil Spillage On Physico-Chemical Parameters Of Ibeno Brackish Water Utitnkara River

ABSTRACT

This research project is on the effect of oil spillage in Ibeno brackish water Utitnkara river, the study involve the analysis to determine the effect of oil spillage on the physico-chemical parameters of the water and assessment of heavy metal content of the water. The study area is used to compare with the area free from oil spillage or area of non oil exploration which serves as control (Itu River). The water parameter analysis is used to determine the quality of water for different uses such as aqua-culture, drinking and domestic used, agriculture and irrigation. And the heavy metals which are toxic when found in large quantity are also analyzed to determine the quality of Ibeno-brakish water (Utit Nkera River) i The result reveals that the heavy metal. content. are found in large quantity in the study area and lesser are found in the control. The physico-chemical parameters of the water a part from the temperature which shown no significant different with the control as shown in chapter four.
