The Effect Of Merger And Acquisition In An Organizational Performance (A Case Study Of Ecobank Nigeria From 1999-2012)

Abstract

This research work focuses on_ the effect of merger and acquisition in the " performance of an organization. To determine the extent using Ecobank, the purpose of the study is to investigate the effect of merger and acquisition in the performance of Ecobank plc so as to ascertain that the strategy has improved their performance in terms of Bank Assets, profit before interest and tax. Also, it examined the reasons for merger and acquisition failure such as culture clash, poor business fit etc. in carrying out this research, the required data were obtained through secondary data sources, it was sourced through desktop research, textbooks and other published and unpublished works. The research work was structured into five chapters. Chapter one introduced the work, stated the problem of research work, propounded some hypothesis stated the purpose of the study, its significance, scope and limitations of this work. The chapter two of this work is the literature review; i.e. reviewing what other erudite scholars have wr.itten concerning the topic in focus. The purpose for this is to give support to my claims or findings in this research work. Chapter four, data was presented, analyzed and interpreted using multiple regression and correlation. Finally, the totality of this work was rounded up in chapter five. Here, the work was summarized, concluded and recommendations offered based on the findings of the chapter.
