ABSTRACT

This paper looks at library in achieving effective instruction in the Universal Basic Education (UBN). The Universal Basic Education (UBE) was launched in Nigeria in , f 1999 with the objective of developing in the entire citizenry a strong consciousness t for education and a strong commitment to its vigorouspromotion as well as the provision of free, universal basic education forevery Nigerian-child of school- going f age, among others. These objectives can be achieved through1 effective instruction I only if the right quality and quantity of library redourdes-are available in the school \ library for effective instruction. The paper gives suggestions on how to ensure the I' exploitation of these roles.
