The Comparative Study On Growth Rate Of Clarias Garriepinus Fingerling Fed Graded Level Of Blood Meal And Earthworm

ABSTRACT

This study was carried out to examine the growth rate of Clarias gariepinus fed graded levels of cow bloodmeal and earthworm. 105 juvenile fishes were rear in 30 litres plastic spectacle in 3replicate fbr 84days to compare the effect and blood meal for different inclusion level. Treatment 1 contain 10% earthworm while treatment II is 20% earthworm then treatmet III is 30% of earthworm also in bloodmeal, treatment IV is control. Treatment T0 which is the control, had no earthworm or bloodmeal. This test treatment were assigned in 3 replicates in a completely randomized designed (CRD) to groups of 5 Clarias gariepinus in the plastic spectacle. The fishes were fed at 5% body weight twice a day for the 84days. Partial change of water was observed daily while total change of water was observed weekly. Sampling was observed biweekly to determine the growth performance of the fish. At the end of the feeding experiment, it was observed that the percentage of survival was higher in treatment III earthworm, control and treatment II bloodmeal while the lowest was in treatment III bloodmeal. The specific growth rate of the fish fed with earth worm Ill was the highest, while earthworm II was the lowest in growth.
