ABSTRACT
|n every learning environment, the need to motivate the teacher I cannot be neglected. This is because without adequate motivation JLonthe side ofthe teacher, effective teaching and learning cannot take place. There is no doubt that a well motivated teacher brings out his/her best. It has been observed that most teachers do not put in their best in the classroom because oflack of adequate motivation. Uzoeshi, (1994) noted that some ofthem do not attend classes and even when they do attend, they are always in a hurry to finish offwhatthey have in the scheme ofwork. He further noted that others engage in part time business in order to make ends meet as a result ofthe high level of economic hardship experienced in our nation presently. The result ofit he concluded is not given the children the required attention.
