ABSTRACT

The research examines the relationship between Gross Domestic Product per capita and active working population, total population and unemployment rate in Nigeria from 2005-2013. The analyses were carried out using SPSS for multiple regression models. From the results obtained, there is a significant relationship among the variables. The estimated regression model shows that unemployment rate and active working population have an impact on the GDP per capita which reflects on the nation's economy. The movement of GDP, TP, UE and A WP over the years were indicated. The estimated regression model; GPD = -134196747.6 + 6.581AWP - 1.519TP + 1957135.341UE and the coefficient of multiple determination (R) indicated 89%.
