ABSTRACT
The automated Teller Machine system in a multi-host environment faces a • myriad of threats, as there are many backend applications. Errors and internal exposures constitute other threats that have devastating effects on the system. However, the devastation is not total. There are countermeasures that can be brought to bear to prevent the threats from materializing on the vulnerabilities. Furthermore, the rapid growth of the ATM as a channel for delivering services world-wide provides banks with great opportunities to extend their customer reach and offer better quality services to their customers. The aim of this project, therefore, is to develop a security framework for the multi-application ATM system and also takes into consideration the importance of trust- in, and familiarity-with, the Internet as factors increasing online banking acceptance between mature people. Finally, the programming language that was used in achieving this project was Visual basic 6.0 while Microsoft Access was used to design the database.
