Role Of Accounting Information System In A Transport Organization (A Study Of Abc Transport Plc Umuahia, Abia State)

ABSTRACT

The role of accounting information to any organization cannot be overemphasized. It guides the management of an organization on financial investment and other decisions, and provides a basis for future purpose. The study examines the role of accounting information system in a transport organization, with special reference to ABC Transport Company Plc, Umuahia Abia State. The study also aims identifying the advantages derived from using accounting information for various decisions of ABC Transport Company Plc, Umuahia Abia State. Additionally, data were gathered from respondents through questionnaire, and they were analyzed using regression model test at 0.05 level of significance. The results indicated that ABC Transport Company Plc, Umuahia Abia State maintained good accounting information which helps management in taking informed economic decision, management is also able to ascertain the profitability of the business using accounting information, it was recommended that the management of ABC Transport Company Plc, Umuahia Abia State should implement computerized accounting information system in their accounting department in other to reduce fraudulent activities in the company.
