ABSTRACT

The central idea of ibis study was to find out the roles of accountants in implementing accountability and transparency in the civil service. The design for this study is a survey design sample random sampling technique was used. 5 research questions were answered and two hypotheses were formulated. Forty (40) questionnaires were administered directly on the respondent at the ministry of finance Abia state. The data was analyzed using descriptive statistics (Mean, frequency count and standard deviation) and simple regression. The mean cut-off was set at 2.50 and the level of significant was set at 0.05. The result of research and analysis shows that there is a significant relationship between the role of accountant in the implementation of accountability and transparency, also there is no relationship between lack of knowledge, skill, professional experience and preparation of financial statement therefore the null hypotheses was rejected. This work recommends that ICAN should make sure that their members maintain the ethics of the profession and training on improvement of their skill should be carried Out.
