ABSTRACT

The world is at the digital age, where information is the cutting edge. Library and information science (LIS) professionals who intend to succeed in the information age must apart from their traditional core competencies and skills develop appropriate technological and interpersonal competencies. The paper therefore looks into library and information science (l.!Sj as a profession, the trends in the profession from inception to date and provides a success guide or kit that would enable LIS professionals succeed in a digital age. Some of the road maps include professional competencies and skills, technological skills and interpersonal competencies.
