ABSTRACT
A field survey carried out to determine the productivity of resources during the 2001/2002 Fadama cropping season (Nov-March) in Umuahia North L.G.A. revealed that the following crops were grown: fluted pumpkin, okro, maize, pepper and garden egg. Using crop yield profitability and resource use efficiency as yard sticks; the study revealed that Fadama land cultivation in the area is quite profitable. All the resources utilised in the system: land, labour, fertilizer, implements, were ineffectively utilised. This suggests that higher profits and yields can be accruing to the small-scale Fadarna farmer through proper reallocation of resources.
