ABSTRACT

This study was set to examine the effective management of working capital ofship management service companies with specific reference to Karlander Limited. The study adopts the survey research design and data was gathered through the administration and collection of 90 questionnaire issued to the staff of the firm. The hypotheses were tested using the Pearson moment correlation. The study results revealed that; effective cash administration has a positive insignificant effect on financial performance ofthe firm. Also, that inventory management has a positive insignificant effect on financial performance of the firm. Further results revealed that effective debt management has a positive significant effect on financial performance ofthe firm. Hence, it is recommended that; firms should endeavor to carry out working capital management practices that will enhance adequate cash administration to meet up daily business needs. Also firm managers should endeavor to properly manage the inventory to avoid waste and always meet the demand of customers to burst financial performance of the firm.The need to maintain best practice of quality financial reporting is important to the firms such that investors who make decisions in line with the information captured on debtors so as to properly regulate the debt management policies ofthe firm.
