Relevance Of Accounting Information On Business And Investment Decision (A Case Study Of Access Bank Umuahia, Abia State Nigeria).

ABSTRACT

This study investigated the Relevance of Accounting Information on Business and Investment Decision a case study of Access Bank in umuahia, Abia State, Nigeria. The main objective of the study was to examine the relevance of accounting information on business and investment decision while the specific objectives were to; examine the relevance of accounting on revenue growth of the business, examine the relevance of accounting information on business profitability and to also examine the relevance of accounting information in shares valuation of investment. Taro Yaname formula was used to select 60 respondents. Questionnaire was the main source of data used for the study. Data was analyzed using simple regression analysis. The major disadvantages to the relevance of accounting information on business and investment decision are, inexperience of account officers preparing the reports, inability of users to understand the report, falsification of accounting report, lack of independence of internal and external auditors, and so on. Some recommendations were made such as; efforts should be made at employing professional staff preparing the reports, seminar/ training should be given to staffs of accounting information, organization should increase the percentage of using accounting information in settling accurate organizational objectives e.t.c.
