Quality Sanitation And Safety Management And Their Impact To The Hospitality Industry.

ABSTRACT

The hospitality industry has the responsibilities of providing an assured safety and sanitized environment for its guest who will pay in return. Hence sanitation and safety becomes issues which cannot be overlooked in the smooth running of any hotel industry. The study was therefore designed to investigate on the quality sanitation and safety management and their impact on the hospitality industry. Three hotels in Abia State were used for this work. The population was made up of 220 staff of the hotels used. The sample size comprised of 150 staff. Questionnaires were used for data collection. Data were analyzed using frequencies, simple percentages and mean. A mean rating of 3.0 and above was regarded as an agreement while less than 3.0 was regarded as disagreement. The findings revealed that there are unsafe pratices in the hotel industries. These pratices has effects which include reduction in income, guest patronage, pilfering, goodwill, theft and diseases. Quality and preventive measures on sanitation and safety must be strictly adhered to by the hospitality industry in order to protect the guest and staff from sanitation and safety hazards.
