Published Financial Reports And Its Implication On Investment Decision A Study Of Nigeria Breweries Plc

ABSTRACT

This study focuses on published financial reports and its implication on investment decision. Having the fact that investment failure may arise from wrong decision implementation made on the basic information contained in the financial reports, and many investors do not carry out an analysis because they cannot understand the interpretation technique of the financial statements. Because of this problem; they try to do without it, as if it is not important due to inability to provide credible information. The main objective of this study is to ascertain the implication of published financial reports on investment decision making of Nigerian Breweries Plc. In the method of data collection, the Annual report of Nigeria breweries Plc from (2010-2014) were collected which represents the secondary data. It was carefully analyzed using ordinary least square based multiple regression in view of the need to understand what published financial report meant, this study sought to establish published financial report on shareholders' fund. The findings showed that published financial reports have a significant effect on shareholders' fund in Nigeria Breweries. The researcher hereby concludes that investors should be more interested in all aspect of the financial report because better understanding of all aspect of financial report would lead to better and more profitable investment returns. This study recommends that published financial statement should be prepared using such a language and terms a layman can understand and Investors should attach much importance to the annual reports so that companies can really know the extent of their responsibility in preparing the financial statement.
