Abstract

One of the public goods which every responsible government should provide to the populace is public library services. Unfortunately, public libraries are not adequately provided in Nigeria owing to inadequate funding by the government. The study discusses the need for the provision of public library services through public-private partnership (PPP), It highlights the concept PPP, their models, partnership initiatives open to public libraries, benefits of PPP to public library services, problems and challenges that may hinder public libraries from engaging in PPP. It concludes that for effective PPP initiatives, there is need for sincere commitment by the parties in the partnership. Key words: Public - Private Partnership, public library, services.
