PRODUCTION AND ACCEPTABILITY OF CRAFT AMONG UNDERGRADUATE STUDENTS IN ABIA STATE

ABSTRACT

This project work dealt primarily on the production and acceptability of craft among undergraduate students in Home Economics. A sample size of twenty students from the department of Home Economics who have gone through craft course were selected for the study. From the study, it was found that majority (35%) of the students preferred producing beads, while 20% produced basket. 20% of the students produced handbags, while 25% of the students produced hats. Majority (45%) of the students produced craftwork because they want to sell it to make money. 40% of the students produced craftwork for personal use. 40% of the students were of the opinion that adding design to a craftwork makes it more acceptable, while 25% of the students argued that maintaining the size of the craftwork makes it more acceptable.
