Abstract

 This study investigated the polytechnic students ’ attitude towards the use of library resources and servicesfocusing two state polytechnics in south east ofNigeria. Survey research design was adoptedfor this study. The population ofthe study consist of3200 registered studentsfrom the two polytechnics studied. A sample size of 160 students was usedforthe study. Five research questions guided the study. The instrument usedfor data collection was questionnaire. Mean and frequency tables were used to analyse the research questions. The majorfindings ofthe study included that all categories oflibrary resources are available in the State Polytechnic libraries for students’ use, the polytechnic students have positive attitude towards the use of library information resources in their academic libraries, and no library hour in the schools time table was identified as one of the major problems that hinder the student’s use of the State Polytechnic libraries. Based on the findings, it was recommended that there should be standby generator for the libraries, government should provide adequate fund so that new books, computers and internet subscription can be acquired in the library, the library staff attitude should change for good, Use of Library should be a compulsory course, students should learn computer so as to enable them use the e-resources and the library managementshould always conduct library orientation exerciseforstudents.
