ABSTRACT

This study focuses on personal income tax and its implications on revenue generation in Abia State. The major problem examine in this re3e0r0h is the low payment of personal income tax and noncompliance with tax policies of government. Data were collected from secondary sources using an ox-post facto research design. The data collected were then tabulated and analyzed using the simple regression analysis. The result of hypothesis one revealed that actual personal income tax revenue has a significant effect of total revenue generated. The finding of hypothesis two revealed that that budgeted personal income tax revenue has a significant effect of total revenue generated. It is recommended that Government should try and appoint capable and worthy hands who can be able to manage and curb the high level of fraud encountered in collecting tax. Additionally, Government should set out a staff rules against corrupt practices which is rampant with its officials. Finally, Government should try much as possible to be transparent with its dealings especially, they should be able to account for every tax revenue collected.
