ABSTRACT

Roasting of groundnut is essential to ensure quality improvement, easy handling, safe storage, further processing, and value addition of the product. Therefore, the aim of the study was to modify and optimize a groundnut roasting machine using python software. Two different species of groundnut were used for this study, they were roasted on the machine at temperatures of 100, 140. 160. 180 and 2200c. after roasting, the results were analyzed using the python software which gave us a skewness value of -0.6883, meaning that the distribution slightly skews to the left, indicating a minor imbalance towards shorter roasting times and a kurtosis of 0.5215 which that the distribution has lighter tails and a flatter peak compared to a normal distribution, indicating a more moderate variability in roasting times. A linear regression equation tr = -0.04T + 20.24, which shows the relationship between roasting time and roasting temperature was also gotten using the python software
