Abstract

This study investigated research findings on effects ofteaching methods on academic achievement ofAgricultural Science students. Meta-analysis survey design was utilized. Three research questions guided the study. The population ofthe study comprised all previous empiricalresearch findings on the effect of teaching methods on academic achievement of Agricultural Science students. A coding sheet was developed by the researchers to collect the necessary data required for the analysis. Data collected were analyzed using percentages, mean and standard deviation to determine the effectsize in relation to the research questions. Results of the study showed thatthe effectsize forthe 13 studies was 0.63, indicating a high effect size; the magnitude of the effect size associated with the designs ofthe previous studies ranged between 0.28 and 0.98, with one shot case experimental study possessing the highest effect size (0.83). Also, the effectsize associated with sample size ofprevious studiesranged from 0.58 to 0.78, with the sample size 99-160 having the highest effect size (0.86). Recommendations were made among which is that metaanalysis procedure should be used in aggregating results of previous studies that share common research questions/ hypotheses inAgricultural Science
