ABSTRACT

The purpose of the study is to investigate Marketing and Promotion ofLibrary Service in Abia State University Uturu, the needs for marketing and promotion of library services in academic libraries, examine marketing andpromotion extent, identify it problems andproffer solution to the problems encounter. The study used a descriptive survey design as research design. The population was thirty eight (38) library staff that fall under professional and Para professional cadre. A complete sampling technique was used. Questionnaires were used for data collection, 38 copies of questionnaire were distributed to respondent and all retrieved representing 100% returned rate. The mean was usedfor data presentation. The finding reveals the various marketing andpromotions services available in Abia state library Uturu, the needsfor marketing and promotion services in Abia state university Uturu which include: to improve inter personal relation between librarians and users, to achieve the objective of the library etc. , the extent for marketing and promotion services in ABSU library Uturu, problems militating against marketing and promotion of library services in ABSU library which include inadequate fund, poor access to information technology etc., the study conclude's that solutions such as management having marketing policy, schools including marketing and promotion services in their curriculum etc. were accepted as general solution to the problem encounter in marketing and promotion services in ABSU library Uturu I
