Abstract

 This work explores the pivotal role ofinformation in drivingpositive transformation and empowerment within disadvantaged communities in Nigeria. It delves into the conceptual overview of information, transformation, empowerment and disadvantaged communities. It also analyzed the crucial roles of information in fostering empowerment and the consequences oflack of information provision for transformation and empowerment. It equally assessed the potentialities of disadvantaged communities visa-vis the benefits of transforming and empowering the disadvantage communities in Nigeria. Furthermore, the work examined libraries' involvement in the provision ofrelevant information to the disadvantage communities in Nigeria and the challenges associated with provision ofinformation to the disadvantage communities in Nigeria. The work concluded by recommending strategies and initiatives aimed at bridging the information gap and empowering disadvantaged communities, ultimatelyfostering inclusive development and societal change.
