Abstract

The paper titled" Indispensability of Librarians in the era of modem technology" is discussed under the following headings: Library and librarians in a constant mobility called change; Technology Enhances Not Replaces; Ultimate key to 21" century librarianship: Proactive service delivery; Library and its service delivery without walls; Librarianship is a vocation and not simply a job; Implication of applying technology in organizations: library inclusive. The paper concludes that: the world is changing and will continue to do so, but that does not mean we should stop the search for timeless principles. Example while the practices of engineering continually evolve and change, the laws of physics remain relatively fixed. Similarly the core principles of librarianship do not change and cannot go into extinction because of technology/internet. These are mere facilitators that enable "modern" actualization of library services delivery, they don't replace they rather enhance service delivery.
