ABSTRACT
Major fertility indices were examined to characterize the physio-chemical Conditions of pH, temperature, moisture content and electrical conductivity ofsoils. High soil acidity (low pH of4.9 — 5.1), low electrical conductivity as well as high temperature and moisture content, Evidence of severe hydrocarbon contamination was provided evidence of reduced metabolic activities on the affected site. These conditions generally imply low soil fertility, This in turn implies low agricultural productivity and reduced source oflivelihood in the affected area. Based on the results that was obtained, contingency/remedial measures which includes the application of appropriate and sufficient Vermicompost was used to treat the soil.
