ABSTRACT

This work investigates the impact oforganization structure on the organizational effectiveness in Nigeria. In many institutions and organizations, organizational structure has made a very big impact towards uplifting the affairs of the organization. Sometimes organizational structure posses a positive impact, in that it coidd also have a negative impact ifworkers decide to act on their own without the guides of the organizational structural flow. The main objective of the study is to investigate the impact of organization structure on organizational effectiveness in Nigeria using Abia State Transport Company. This study adopted a survey research design for this study in which primary data was used as a source ofdata through the use ofquestionnaire. Descriptive statistics such as simple percentages andfrequencies were used in analyzing the data obtained from the selected respondents. The study reveals that organisation structure significantly affects organisational effectiveness in Abia state transport company; there is significant problem in the structural design of the departments within Abia state transport company; there is significant relationship between the level of education ofsubordinates and organisational structure of their organisation; effective organisation structure has significant effect on improved performance ofAbia state transport company. Therefore the study therefore recommends that the structure oforganization be properly and carefully designed to meet with the needs of the organization, employees and its environment since it influences effective management.
