ABSTRACT

The project titled "Impact of internet services on marketing of banking services in Lagos" is aimed at achieving the following main objectives: Determining the extent ol adoption of internet in bank marketing, assessing the impact ol internet in deposit taking, withdrawals and fund transfer/assess the effect on information communication and the overall bank performance. As a step in achieving these objectives • aforementioned, the following hypotheses were formulated; the use of internet services has impacted effectively on deposit taking. The use of internet services has impacted effectively on deposit withdrawals. The use . of internet services has significantly improved overall marketing of bank services. The survey research method was adopted. Data were collected from ‘primary and secondary sources. The major instrument for data collection was the questionnaire. The analytical tools employed, are frequency and percentage. The major findings were; Commercial banks .have adopted the use of internet service banking to a large extent. Use of internet services has significantly improved deposit taking, withdrawals, and funds transfer and information communications in commercial banks. The use of internet services has improved overall marketing of banking services. Having achieved a positive result on the analysis, the study recommends that the following measures should be implemented; Continuous training and re-training of bank staffs in computer applications, Providing adequate power generators as supplementary source of power, People should be encouraged to acquire and install internet hardware in their homes and offices, as it will enable them access both services and information. Our educational institutions should include computer maintenance in the school curriculum and syllabus al all levels as it will help develop’computer maintenance culture.
