ABSTRACT

The study investigated the impact of information communication technology on the performance of banking sector in Nigeria.  The major objectives of the study were to identify the degree of acceptance of information and communication technology in the banking sector, to determine the contribution of information and communication technology to the growth of the banking sector and to ascertain the impact of non-adoption of information and communication technology on the performance of banks in Nigeria.  To achieve the objectives of the study, survey research design method was adopted. The researcher adopted primary data in getting the required information. In testing the hypotheses, Pearson Product Moment Correlation Coefficient was used. Thefindings revealed that there is a positive significant impact of JCT on the banking sector performance.  The findings further revealed that there is a positive significant contribution of JCT on the banking sector growth. The researcher recommends that The  banks  should   improve   more   on   its information technology so as to enhance its productivity. The researcherfurther recommends that the  use  of  (JCT)  ~n  the  banking  sector  should  not  only  be  restricted  to  the  cities alone,  rural  banking should  also  be improved upon.
