ABSTRACT

Commercial banks have the institutional frame work on the mechanism jor mobilization and transmission offinancial resources to support the operations of small scale enterprises. Thus, this study was carried out to empirically assess the extent to which commercial banks had support the operations of small scale enterprises in Nigeria. The empirical resultsfrom a simple regression analysis of the model specifiedfor the study indicated that there is a positive but statistically insignificant relationship between commercial banks credit to small and medium scale enterprises and economy growth. This is because the commercial banks credit was not up to the level to adequately sustain the operations ofsmall and medium scale enterprises.
