ABSTRACT

The aim of this work is to Assess the Impact of Computerization of Accounting on the Performance of Nigerian Banks. Two selected Balks were used in assessing the impact of computerization of accounting. The data for the research were gathered using structured questionnaires and interviews for the primary data while the secondary data were obtained from annual financial statement of these banks ranging from 2003-2008. The data collected were analyzed by the use of tables and percentages while dummy variable in ordinary least square regression and Descriptive Statistic were used to test the hypothesis. The major findings of the research are, computerized accounting system affects the growth and profitability in the banking industry. Introduction of computerization of accounting in the banking industry creates positive impact for customers satisfaction. On the basis of the findings, the following major recommendations were made; Their banks shield organize in service training for workers to cope the pace of Information Communication Technology (ICT). Adequate maintenance of computer equipment. and energy generating set.
