Harnessing Azumini Blue River For Tourism Development

ABSTRACT

The study focused on harnessing of Azumini Blue River for tourism development. The objective of the study was to survey the potentials for development of this resort for tourism, and to investigate efforts so far made towards the development of Azumini Blue River thirty copies of the questionnaire were distributed and all were retrieved. The survey design was used. Thirty resource persons were exclusively selected for the research, as they were deemed to be in its best position to provide the information needed for the study. These included staff of Abia State Ministry of Information, Culture and Tourism, Abia State Tourism Board, and community leaders in Azumini. The identified tourism potentials were listed and ranked on the basis of respondents' ratings using percentages. Past efforts of development of the site; the constraints at its development as well as suggestions for the actualization of the Azumini project were identified and discussed.
