Field Control Of Fusarium Wilt Of Tomato In The Humid Tropics

ABSTRACT
Four treatments, woodash, dry poultry manure, neem Azandarichta indica water extract and a resistant variety (Roma VF) were evaluated for their efficacy in the control of Fusarium wilt and leaf curl disease of tomato (Variety L2) in Umudike under rained conditions. The experiment was laid out in a randomised complete block design (RCBD) in which each treatment was replicated three times. Results obtained showed that incidence and severity of Fusarium wilt were numerically low, however no significant difference was observed between the treatments. On the other hand, the severity of tomato leaf curl on Roma VF cultivar were significant. Fruit yield was highest in plots treated with wood ash (4.20t/ha) and poultry manure (3.90t/ha) and lowest in the control (O.43t1ha), Roma VF (O.60t/ha) and neem extract (O.70t/ha), but these differences were not significant (P = 0.05).
