ABSTRACT

In this study, natural dye extracted from onion peel (Allium Cepa) using Propanol as the solvent for the extraction were used as sensitizers for DSSC. The prepared DSSC were assembled using glass substrate TCO as the first layer, Elcocarb as the counter electrode, natural dye anchored TiO2 film as the photoanode, and quasi-solid state electrolyte as an electrolyte sandwiched in between the two electrodes. The photoelectrochemical performances of the prepared DSSC were evaluated. Solar simulations were carried out under varied temperatures such as; 309K, 328K, 333K, 338K, 343K, 348K under light and dark circumstances. The UV-Vis spectrometry test was carried out, and an Absorbance peak of 642nm was reached. Profilometry test was done in order to check and acquire the thickness of the mesoporous TiO2, Elcocarb and D-TiO2, which the thickness is 60nm, 15500nm and 35500nm respectively. The efficiency of the cell under different temperatures are; 0.03, 0.04.
