Evaluation Of The Role Of Accounting In The Control Of Public And Private Expenditure In Nigeria: (A Case Study Of Akwa Urban)

ABSTRACT

This research is an investigation into the role of accounting in the control

of public and private sector expenditure in, Nigeria (A case study of

selected public and private owned organization in Awka Urban).The aim

of this research work is to find out the best way in which the expenditure

of public and private owned organizations should be controlled to reduce

loss of funds in federal and state and local municipal. arms of

government the research tends to highlight the management! works

inability to apply accounting principles rules and procedures,

formulation and interpretation of policies to achieve accounting results.

The sources of data of this work include primary and secondary, viz face

to face interview, survey method as well as the use of questionnaires.

Accounting is defined as the art of recording classifying and summarizing

in a significant manner and in terms of money, transactions and events

which are of a financial character and interpreting the result thereof. At

the end of the research it was discover that some organizations keep

proper books of account while others do not as a result of unqualified

and inexperience accounting personnel.
