Abstract
This research evaluated JS III students’ proficiency in 15 science process skills. One research question and hypothesis were involved in carrying out the study. Three thousand, one hundred and thirtyone (3,31) students were drawn from 59 secondary schools in Anambra State through proportionate stratified random sampling technique. A “Test ofscience process skills” (TOSPS) developed and validated by Onunkwo (1995) was utilized in collecting data from these students, after the administration of this instrument to the students, the data obtained were used in determining the proportions of JS III students who developed proficiency and the proportions that did not develop proficiency in the 15 process skills investigated. Hence, it was found that most students did not develop proficiency in the respective skills.
