Evaluation Of Lime To Control Seepage Losses In Fishpond

ABSTRACT
This study was conducted to evaluate the effect of lime to control seepage losses in fishpond. Measurements of seepage losses in fishponds were carried out with a metre rule to determine the seepage losses in fishpond lined with cement two times, and the other fishpond lined with cement once, and then, lined for the second time with lime, making it two times, with lining thickness of 2mm respectively for the both fishponds. Seepage losses of 1.40 for pond model 1, and 0.80 for pond model 2, percentage losses of 7% for pond model 1, and 4% for pond model 2, seepage rates of 0.58 1m3/s for pond model 1, and 0.290m3/s for pond model 2, were determined for the both fishponds. The fishpond lined with cement once, and then, with lime showed the effectiveness and capacity of lime to control seepage losses as well as the fishpond lined with cement twice.
