ABSTRACT

 The study investigated on the effect of leadership skill on the performance of companies in Nigeria. The objectives ofthe study are; to examine the extent to which effective leadership affect the performance of companies in Nigeria and to determine the effect ofleadership training on the profitability ofcompanies in Nigeria. To achieve the objectives ofthe study, survey research design method was adopted. The researcher adopted primary data in getting the required information. The population ofthe study is made up of351 respondents while the sample size is made up of 187 after adopting taro Yamane formula. However, a total 187 questionnaire was administered to the respondents. In testing the hypotheses, simple regression analysis was used. The findings revealed that effective leadership has a significant effect on organizational performance. The findings also revealed that training affects organizational productivity. The researcher recommends that organizations should ensure that their leaders are properly trained in respect oftheir operation; this would help in increasing the performance ofthat organization. The researcherfurther recommends that organization should endeavor to engage in delegation ofauthorities in order to reduce the level ofworkload.
