ABSTRACT

The inaccuracies and sIowness in accounting entries under the manual accounting system inevitably led many corporate organizations to opt for the computerized accounting system. First bank Plc. was one organization which adopted the system several years ago. The essence of this research was t& empirically evaluate the effectiveness of First Bank plc. financial management in a computerized accounting system. To achieve this objective, the study adopt the t-test statistical techniques to determine if there was a significant difference between effectiveness of financial management in the manual accounting system and the computerized accounting system. The result of the t-test analysis indicated that there was a significant difference between the effectiveness in the manual accounting system and the computerized accounting system. It was recommended that First Bank Plc. should upgrade the computerized accounting system to the Enterprise resources System (ERPS), the bank should strengthen its internal control system and should introduce forensic accounting to complement the computerized accounting system.
