Evaluation Of Drainage Systems In Michael Okpara University Of Agriculture, Umudike, Umuahia, Abia Sta Te, Nigeria

ABSTRACT

 The evaluation of the drainage systems was conducted in Michael Okpara university of agriculture, Umudike in Abia state. the evaluation was conducted using the normal linear measurement of the drainage parameters. seven different locations were evaluated. it was observed that the drainage systems are predominantly trapezoidaJ and rectangular in shape and they are mostly lined channels. from the result obtained, the area of the watershed were 16.89ha, the area of design channel 0.6472m, the discharge capacity were 7.37m/s, the results of the study showed that the drainage systems differ in shape, length, and depth. however, the longest channel recorded is from the school gate to the veterinary college which is 1188.2m while the shortest is from generator house to N.R.C.R.I. gate which is 201.9m. most of the drainages are filled with silts, thus causing over flooding during heavy rainfall.
